UAE Consulate Hosts Follow-Up Investment Meeting with Balochistan Delegation
A high-level follow-up investment meeting was held at the UAE Consulate in Karachi, chaired by His Excellency Bakheet Ateeq Al-Romaithi, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates. The delegation from the Government of Balochistan (GoB) included prominent figures such as Mian Zahid Hussain, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Mr. Bilal Khan Kakar, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade (BBoIT), Mr. Muhammad Dawood Bazai, Secretary Energy GoB, and Mr. Nawaz Bugti, Provincial Director (Balochistan) to the Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC).
His Excellency warmly welcomed the delegation, setting a positive tone for productive discussions centered on investment opportunities in Balochistan’s energy sector. The meeting focused on four key projects spearheaded by the GoB Energy Department, presented in detail by Secretary Energy, Mr. Muhammad Dawood Bazai. These initiatives included:
1. Solarization of Four Key Industrial Estates: A plan to power industrial zones with renewable energy to enhance sustainability and reduce operational costs.
2. Establishment of Solar Power Plants for Chaghi Mining Area: An investment opportunity to develop solar infrastructure to support mining activities in the resource-rich Chaghi region.
3. Mini/Micro Grids in Off-Grid Areas: A project to provide reliable electricity to remote areas of Balochistan through decentralized renewable energy solutions.
4. Utilization of Low BTU Gas for Power and Fertilizer Sectors: Exploring innovative uses of low British Thermal Unit (BTU) gas to bolster energy and agricultural productivity.
His Excellency expressed keen interest in the proposed projects and assured the delegation of the UAE Government’s full support in fostering investment partnerships. He further recommended organizing investment conferences in Quetta and Dubai to attract global stakeholders and accelerate project implementation.
The meeting concluded with a reciprocal vote of thanks, reflecting mutual commitment to strengthening economic ties between the UAE and Balochistan.
